چکیده
Glucuronoxylomannan (GXM) is a microbial compound that can modulate the immune response. We investigated (1) the receptors involved in uptake of GXM on monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs) from healthy donors, (2) the effects of GXM on expression of specific receptors, (3) the effects of GXM mediated by pattern-recognition receptors, and (4) GXM modulation of MDM accessory and secretory functions. Cellular receptors involved in uptake of GXM included Fc gamma RII, CD18, Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4, and CD14. Some biological functions of MDMs were profoundly affected by treatment with GXM, resulting in (1) increased expression of CD40 and CD86 via perturbation of TLR4, (2) decreased expression of major histocompatibility complex class II, (3) induction of interleukin-10 but not of tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and (4) decreased lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced production of cytokines. GXM represents an attractive compound to limit inflammatory processes and induce an LPS-tolerant state.

Ganoderma Lucidum Induces the Expression of CD40/CD86 on Peripheral Blood Monocytes
Background: The major immuno-modulating effects of Ganoderma lucidum include mitogenicity and activation of immune effector cells such as T cells, macrophages and natural killer cells resulting in the production of cytokines. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression of CD40 and CD80 by G. lucidum-treated human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Methods: Monocytes wer...
متن کاملP170: The Role of Th1 Lymphocytes in The Pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Th1 lymphocytes produce cytokines such as IL-2, IFN-γ, and TNF-α, TNF-β and GM-CSF. IFN-γ is the most important Th1 cell cytokine that induces the production of IgG, activation of macrophages, enhancing phagocytosis, and also increasing MHC class I and class II molecules. Increasing serum level of Th1 cytokines have also been observed in MS patients. It has also been prov...
متن کاملP151: The Effects of Boswellia Serrate on Central Nervous System
In the process of neuronal inflammation, an increased in inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α) from immune cells (leukocytes and macrophages), brain cells (microglia, astrocytes and neurons) and in hippocampus, amygdala occurs. Raise the level of cytokines result in reduced in production of molecules that are related to plasticity, especially BDNF, IGF-1 and VEGF. Microglia ...
متن کاملThe Effect of MS14 on Production of Pro-inflammatory Cytokines by Macrophages
Objective(s) Using herbal medicines as a complementary treatment method is increasing in wide variety of diseases. MS14-an herbal-marine preparation-is reported to have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activities; however, the mechanism underlying its therapeutic effect is not known. Macrophages play an important role in host defense mechanisms and carry out their role by producing vario...

Th1 lymphocytes produce cytokines such as IL-2, IFN-γ, and TNF-α, TNF-β and GM-CSF and play an important role in the increase of delaying sensitivity and defense against intracellular pathogens. IFN-γ is the most important Th1 cell cytokine that induces the production of IgG, activation of macrophages, enhancing phagocytosis, and also increasing MHC class I and class II mo...
